Washburn University Student Exhibition and AwardsPosted: May 3, 2011
The Washburn University Student Art Exhibit will close Sunday, May 15th, 2011. It is not too late to still visit the Mulvane Art Museum to see the exhibition filled with artwork created by talented student artists.
I was honored with the Charles and Margaret Pollak award, which is presented to one art student each year at the student exhibition. The photograph that was chosen for this purchase award will become a part of the Washburn Art Department’s permanent collection. I am extremely honored to have received this award.
However, other students were recognized for their talent during the opening reception, as well. Sami Sallaway received an award presented by the Topeka Branch of the National League of American Pen Women for her live sculpture “Carmen” and Jessica Wilson was the first student to receive the Joan Foth Award for her charcoal piece “Hay Bales.”
Below is my photograph, “Self-Portrait #03” that was chosen for the Pollak.
