New Work – Female Identity through Self-PortraiturePosted: October 15, 2013
This project uses photography to explore themes of female self-identity and sexuality through the genre of self-portraiture. It brings to quesiton the identity of femininity as it pertains to relationships, self, and society.
This work originates from feelings of displacement as a female in her mid-twenties. As one grows into adulthood, one embarks on a lonely journey of self acceptance and understanding. Realizing and understanding the identity of being female and one’s self is ever present. Through these staged, articulated images, the project brings to light feelings of isolation, self-awareness, and trust.
